The variety of posters is so huge that nobody pays attention to them in
many public places, shopping malls and, perhaps, even at home. However,
for some people the posters bear a load of emotions that are positive
mostly; moreover, some people prefer to talk about inspirational
posters and their power over the minds and souls of people. To some
extent, it is true as it is known that some masterpieces may give a lot
power and energy while staring at them for some time, and no one can
deny that a combination of visual part as well as some kind of wording
may work wonders. By the way, this feature of posters was discovered
many, many years ago.
On the other hand, the bigger part of printed materials of the kind is
not supposed for such use and they are just movie posters. Sure, there
are posters with different functions and promoting other things like,
for example, books, cosmetics, sportswear and so on, but famous movie
posters are sold best of all. That is why when someone is going to buy
posters, chances are those will be about new movie or their characters.
At dawn of poster art, when posters were just a new form of visual art,
all posters were created manually, and then brought to a printing shop
to copy, with a limited set of colors to reduce costs in the long run.
Now the most of posters are simply photo posters, and how they create
them is clear from the name. In addition, this way of poster creation
is the cheapest at the moment: a previously taken picture processed on
a PC, possibly merged with some other graphics and produced a poster
template. Thus, it will be far less expensive than asking a painter to
create something special and, no doubt, faster.
Indeed, the advancement of technology makes many things cheaper and
cheap posters make no exception in this respect. The selling price of
any poster that is produced now is not affected with budget of a movie
depicted as these are two separate products. In other words, any famous
movie posters may be manufactured for the money of that particular
movie promotion budget and thus their value may be a part of that movie
budget. But on a wider picture, the current price of any poster cannot
reflect its value with time.
That last statement means that many old posters were pretty cheap at
the time of their creation, but now, while being sold at some renowned
auctions, their prices may be few hundred thousands of dollars or
something like that. This fact became a clear signal to all those who
would like to find a perfect target for investing money that loses
value all the time. In this sense buying some posters of today may be a
good investment for future returns as every poster produced at these
trying times may have many times more value later, what had been proved
with last century posters already. |
